Mooring holder James Williamson has won a photographic competition by capturing the natural beauty of the Beaulieu River. His atmospheric shot of the early morning mist over the water was chosen by Lord Montagu, from a selection of entries submitted during 2019.

James, from Reigate in Surrey, was presented with a £200 prize by Harbour Master Wendy Stowe at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour and his photograph will be featured in the 2020 Beaulieu River tide times and information booklet.

The annual competition is open to amateur photographers who are inspired by the tranquil beauty of the Beaulieu River. However they capture the unique quality of one of the few privately owned tidal rivers in Britain, all are welcome to submit entries for 2020. To enter or for details see www.beaulieuriver.co.uk/photo-competition/.

The award-winning yacht harbour is currently undergoing a £2m reconfiguration to provide more convenient walk-ashore moorings, bigger berths and improved facilities, while keeping the character which makes it so special.

As the first phase nears completion, reservations are being taken for increased capacity for 2020. Bookings are also being taken for a further release of larger berths which will be provided by the second phase of work in March 2021. To reserve a berth or for more details see www.beaulieuriver.co.uk, email harbour.office@beaulieu.co.uk or call 01590 616200.
